Taking it back to my provo days!! #imissswig St Louis Missouri April 2024 Hi everyone. |
I'm gonna be so honest, this week has been exhausting and pretty tough! Our super amazing friend Jesús who was going to be baptized on Sunday, passed away Saturday night. This was so hard and super sad. My comp and I went from missionaries to translators for the family in two seconds! Only one doctor in this St. Louis hospital spoke Spanish, and my comp doesn't know much Spanish outside of Gospel related Spanish. So I had to translate everything the doctors were saying over his case to about 15 members of Jesus’ family over a video call. It was super hard to be the bearer of the news, but with the gift of tongues I tried my hardest to bear testimony to the family of the plan of happiness and eternal families. He was a really great guy and was so young, but I am certain he is in a better place.
My miracle of the week happened on Wednesday. We were eating dinner with a senior missionary couple in our mission. We told them Jesús was in the hospital and they recommended to us to get all the information on his genealogy as soon as we could. So the next day we went to the hospital and it was the one day his gf/wife was visiting him and both of them, Jesús and the wife, told us everything and we were able to make family trees for the both of them. This is a miracle because this was the day before Jesús had completely become unresponsive. God is not a God of coincidences. I am so grateful that we were working as his hands for Jesús and his family!

Street tacos and the last supper ;) St Louis Missouri April 2024 |
On other news, Saturday we had two parties! We had a small ward party where we invited all of our friends and we brought out the soccer ball and played a massive game of soccer! So in my skirt I whipped out some of my crazy soccer skills and I was smoking these kids. The president of the branch even brought it up in branch council! So I'm pretty much famous now lol! Then with our 2nd party we had our Dia de Hispanidad party! It was awesome, it was on the other side of the city so we had a member drive us.
We got to the party and our friends (a group of four adults) came!!! And let me tell you, this was wild. First off the group is three men and a woman. One of the men is from Guatemala and when they announced they needed one more dancer to come up and dance with the bishops to a Guatemalan dance he immediately gets up and walks to the stage. Y'all, this man was not dancing appropriately at all it was seriously so uncomfortable… and then. It gets worse. The woman told us that they came because she was gonna dance with one of the men and me and my comp were supposed to dance with the other 2. We were like “Oh great what did we get ourselves into..” Anyways, we stated our purpose as missionaries and invited them to church and immediately passed their info along to the elders. It's wild out here y'all.
Last story of the week!!! Sundays on the mission are actually one of my favorite days. Because my comp and I work hard all week and Sunday is the real test. Will our friends actually show up to church??? Anyways, we had a huge family of six show up to church and found out the mom was a member. It was awesome!! The elders also had a baptism on Sunday and so we got to invite all of our friends and it was just beautiful!! I just love baptisms! Everyone is so happy and the spirit is so strong!! And the wife Gabi (who got baptized) even thanked us for being friends with her! She's so precious! Anyways, back to my story about the family of six. The husband said that he really wants to be baptized, so we will see!!

Dia de hispanidad!! St Louis Missouri April 2024 |
Also, Antonio, is still doing awesome! He's the best and he has the greatest testimony! This week is a big week though because we are going to teach him the word of wisdom and we just saw that he posted “beer saves lives” so I'll let you know how that goes lol!!! But he's honestly super cool, so we will see!
Anyways y'all, this week I just want to share a quick scripture of what I have been reading in my personal study. And it's perfect for this week because of how wonderful my angels are!
Anyways it's Alma 24:14
“And the great God has had mercy on us, and made these things known unto us that we might not perish; yea, and he has made these things known unto us beforehand, because he loveth our souls as well as he loveth our children; therefore, in his mercy he doth visit us by his angels, that the plan of salvation might be made known unto us as well as unto future generations.”
Like how incredible is the plan of happiness and how amazing that God loves us so much that he created this plan so that we will be eternally happy! I just love the Lord with my whole heart! And though this week was emotionally wild I am oh so blessed be here and serving!
On my mission so far I have met a lot of people with crazy backgrounds. I have met people who are here in the states because they were threatened in there home country, and I have met people who came here to work to send money back to their kids at home. These people have been through some wild things but my favorite lesson to teach is the plan of happiness! How cool that God created a plan so magnificent and organized that we get to preach about it and introduce it to all of God's children! It's like giving all of our friends a big birthday present when we tell them all about it! Their faces light up and they get so excited to hear more! I love the plan of salvation and boy have I gained a greater testimony this past year! I love my angels and I know each of you have angels too!
I love you all, have the best week! Send me pics and vlogs during the week! It's my fav! I miss you! God is so so good!
