After Hermana Bruins fire talk in sacrament! St Louis Missouri August 2024 |
Hi yall!!! Welcome to anotha week!! Let me tell y'all the truth. This past week was a bit frustrating. In my mission we talk a lot about an escalator. How we should always help people on their escalator to God! Well I don't know what's going on with my escalators, they are either all broken or super super slow. I just feel like I teach the coolest people ever, and I really want to help them and I really love them. I feel like I am working my hardest to show them the blessings in store for them. But everytime things are getting good and they are progressing so beautifully something gets in the way. So far it's happened to me 3 times on my mission, Antonio, Jose, and now Aysel. They all are the best people ever and know the importance of baptism but the adversary really gets in the way! Anyways, I just hope I'm making a difference here !
Ok let's start off with Wednesday!!! So Wednesday we had district council which is always fire because we get some major good advice from the district and get to apply it to our missionary work!! This past district council was a little tough… we decided to practice extending invitations.. although our situation was if the person said no.. so basically a negative situation... meaning we basically get to practice being rejected! I'm not gonna lie it was a tough district council and we all learned never to practice that again.. haha but again it was helpful to understand how important the spirit is!! The holy ghost and the spirit of contention are very different and recognizing the difference is so key in all of the lessons! So it was a little helpful lol!

Anyways having that tough practice teach kinda messed with my mindset for the rest of the day and Wednesday was pretty tough until we met Josselin and Ivonne!! Now let me tell yall.. we met Josselin 3 weeks ago knocking her door. She seemed so cool, so we were so excited! Until she kept canceling the appointments we set up with her. But finally Wednesday, we got to meet with her!! We went to our appointment with her and her daughter in law and 3 children were there. Which of course is so much more intimidating!! But we pressed forward with our lesson, and then Ivonne (the daughter in law) was asking so many questions about our missions, like when we started and when we finish ect.. Usually people don't know this stuff, so I had a suspicion. So I asked her how she knew so much about missions and she proceeded to say that she and her husband are members… Meaning JOSSELIN'S SON IS A MEMBER! But when they moved here they stopped going to church because at the time there was only an English congregation! So we hit them with the good news and invited them to church! We got some return appointments for this week so I. Am. Stoked.
I don't know what the deal is this week, but on Thursday we went to go meet with 2 of our appointments, Alejandra and Edwin.. they live in the same apartment building so it's so nice lol! But anyways at both of these appointments they proceeded to tell us that they have a family member who is an active member of the church! Alejandra has an Aunt who is a member and a cousin on a mission in Ecuador (lol same.. shoutout kaitlyn)! Then Edwin told us that his brother married a sweet woman in Utah and is a member there! So so cool, getting that part member family work doneeee!! Hopefully, they'll continue to learn more with us!
Aysel started a new job this past 2 weeks and hasn't had any time to meet with us and hasn't come to church. :(( So we stopped by Friday morning to see what's going on! She told us she needs more time to prepare and she wants to/needs to marry her boyfriend before the baptism. So we had to take her off date for now but we are still working with her. At the lesson she kept asking me why I was “mad at her”, which I wasn't mad I was just a tad frustrated!! Haha but I had to put a smile on my face and push forward. It just breaks my heart. I love Aysel. We have been working with her for a long time and she is just amazing. So it hurts knowing she knows the importance of baptism but she's postponing it. She's postponing her blessings! Everyone pray for her, she is just the best and I know she will be baptized soon!

Took no pics so we took a selfie St Louis Missouri August 2024 |
Sadly, Cristian and Ana had to cancel both of our appointments this past week because Cristian is working 2 hours away.. Tough. So we met with only Ana on Saturday! We taught her the whole evangelio (the gospel). Which are faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the holy ghost, and enduring until the end. It was a long but bomb lesson!! She told us that she wants to receive the gift of the holy ghost which literally is so cool! We are gonna try and meet with Cristian this week as well but we got our recurring appts with Ana this week on Tuesday and Thursday! Praying for a big miracle this week and hopefully we can invite her to be baptized!!
At church we had Luiz (the return missionary who served in San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and his family friends, Paty, Fran, and Gabriela come to church!! We recently invited them to watch the restoration movie, which they did! And now yall.. they are completely changed people. They have goals to read the BOM everyday and they came to church!! The restoration movie really strengthened their testimonies! So cool! We are so excited to go back this Wednesday for our next lesson!
For my spiritual thought, I wanted to share with y'all one of my favorite videos! I have been binge watching all the inspirational messages in the Gospel library. They are the bomb!
But this cute video is so simple but so true. If you don't get time to watch it, I'll sum it up really quickly. It's just about a talk from Elder Uchtdorf where he talks about how sometimes our own umbrellas are covering us from the rain of blessings from heaven. This is the frustration that I feel for my friends. Their umbrellas are covering them from the blessings that God wants to pour upon them. I know that I am blessed because of the gospel in my life. I want others to have the same blessings. I know that if we close our umbrellas we can dance in the rain of our blessings. I know that God is a God of miracles, I know that people are prepared for this walk with Christ. I know that I can help people close their umbrellas and see the blessings that will rain upon them! I know God blesses each of us! I invite yall to count your blessings. I invite yall to close your umbrellas, whatever is distracting you from coming closer to God, get rid of it! He is pouring blessings upon you!
