Dinner with the lovely Van Hoffs!! Springfield Illinois February 2025 |
Hi everyone! I hope you had the greatest Valentine’s Day ever! I love Valentine’s Day because I just love, love! Love is so amazing, especially loving another person. How lucky are we to love one another—and God, of course!
This week was crazy awesome. Sister Roos wanted to grind like no other for her last week, so that's exactly what we did! We set a goal to find 11 people to start teaching this week, and God was too good to us! We were able to find 17! It's a record! It was so cool—people were all just mega interested! Although, we did face a lot of rejection as well. Also, I hate the internet because we meet someone super cool who’s really interested, but then they look up “Mormon church” and see swingers and polygamy... Ugh, it's so annoying. I promise we aren't like that!
Anyways, this week we really struggled to get in contact with Jacob and Jeremiah, so we even went to their houses. They just said they’re mega busy, so they need to push off their baptisms. It was so sad. We also need to get them to come to church instead of working on Sundays. :(( But we will continue to try and help them. Also, I think they are facing opposition because Jacob's mom is not very happy with us. She doesn't like Sister Roos and me, and she makes it very known. So that hurt a little, but we press on!
We taught Halen this week. We taught him the Word of Wisdom, and he sent us a video of him pouring his gallon of sweet tea down the drain! YAY! He's awesome!
OKAY, SOOOO END OF WEEK UPDATE, GUYS: Halen has legit been possessed by a demon… Halen is super duper going through it. He has been on some haywire, telling us about evil spirits and cussing up a storm! He told us about this spirit named Tilly that lives in his house. He genuinely has been yelling some horrible things at us, and it’s been a pretty scary situation. But I've been more sad for him than scared—he's genuinely struggling even through his anger. We told our district leader, and they are going to try to head to his house and cast the demon out, so that's pretty awesome! First time casting out a demon for me! #girlboss π♀️

So, in Springfield Zone, Sister Roos and I are over three sister companionships, and all of them have a companion heading home this transfer… Crazy. Anyways, one of the companionships had lost a bit of motivation, so we got the chance to go on a BLITZ (we sleep over and grind in their area) on Valentine’s Day! It was so fun! Sister Roos and I teamed up with the Litchfield sisters and had a goal to literally run to appointments and talk to everyone we met. It was the most exhausting day of missionary work of my life. But God’s work paid off! We found 14 people who wanted to be taught and 16 who were interested! LIKE WHAT?!?!? Sister Roos and I were stunned at the answered prayers we were living in! We had prayed so earnestly before the BLITZ that we could help these sisters and their area, and God really answers prayers! It was genuinely super tiring, and I passed out that night, but soooo worth it! I also came back to Springfield with flowers delivered to my front porch from Jack for Valentine’s Day! (It’s the tender mercies in life ππ₯Ή) Also, Sister Roos found some flowers that were chucked out on the side of the road and said that her eternal companion (who isn’t in her life yet) probably prayed and asked God to send her some flowers for Valentine’s Day. Lol, it was super funny! So now we have two bouquets in our kitchen! GOD IS GOOD!
THANKS JACK AND GOD FOR THE FLOWERS!!! Springfield Illinois February 2025 |

Letty and Kyron: King and Queen of YSA! Springfield Illinois February 2025 |
On Saturday, we had a Relief Society activity! We did a “pound” workout where we basically dance with drumsticks. My comp and I must've been doing it so horribly wrong because our backs ache!!! So that was painful but super fun! Then the Relief Society all made magnets together! It was super fun! We have a teeny Relief Society in the YSA, so Sister Roos and I get to go to the events to supply more people! It's so fun! I love the YSA.
Saturday night, Sister Roos and I had the coolest mall-finding shift! We were so hyped from the BLITZ the day before that we asked anyone and everyone to join us at church that Sunday! We ended up finding six people who said YES to come to church! It was actually so fire and mega fun! Buttttt none of them actually came… super sad. Hopefully, we can get a better turnout next week haha! Anyways, I'm pretty exhausted, and I say goodbye to Sister Roos this week, so that's pretty sad.

Sister Roos has taught me a lot. She truly is one of the most fantastic missionaries I have ever had the privilege to serve with! While serving with Sister Roos, we have gone through some of the oddest, funniest, most uplifting moments together! She genuinely emulates a lot of Christ-like attributes. While serving with her, I have had the honor to hear her testimony time and time again. Something that Sister Roos always quotes is a line from Les MisΓ©rables: “To love another person is to see the face of God.” She then goes on to talk about how she can see God in everyone she meets. This is the perfect quote to describe such an amazing missionary. She loves so wholeheartedly everyone she serves. She has taught me to have charity and compassion for everyone we meet—even the most stubborn, meanest people we encounter. She has the ability to love them.
With Valentine’s Day this past week and her heading home, I've been thinking a lot about the love she has shown me—the Christ-like love she truly radiates! I'm so grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. I'm grateful that He loves each of us so perfectly and so individually. I'm so blessed to have such amazing friends, family, and companions who have shown me His love.
Please remember God loves you! He loves you so perfectly! Find someone this week who needs some extra love! I love each of y'all so much!
