Our cute little Easter bags Sister Windbigler made us!! Cape Girardeau Missouri April 2025 |
He is risen!! I feel like this year I actually understand how special that phrase is! Anyways, let's get into this week!
On Wednesday, we took one of the youth (Julia) out knocking doors with us! It was all normal, and then I went up to this man and started sharing a message with him about Jesus Christ. His name was Von, and he told us that he and his girlfriend, Zyana, were looking for a church! It was awesome! As we were writing his number down to visit them again another day this week, we heard someone yelling at us: “HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND… UMMM EXCUSE MEEE HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND!!” It was his girlfriend Zyana yelling at us that Von is, in fact, taken… hahaha. We explained to her who we were, and instantly she was like, “Oh ok, awesome! We would love to come to church with y’all.” It was so funny. Poor Julia was probably mortified! Slay missionary work!
We got to go on exchanges with the Farmington sisters, which was lots of fun! Sister Wennerholm came to LaSalle and we had a good time! I had purposely scheduled so many appointments so we could just be running around, but all of our afternoon appointments canceled :(
But then we knocked all afternoon and met the coolest people! We met this girl named Kristen who—I kid you not—asked us if she could get baptized... We were like, “Of course you can!!!” We had to set her up with the Elders though because she lives outside of our area :(. Sad, but okay, cause we’re all on the same team lol!

Exchanges with Sister Wennerholm Cape Girardeau Missouri April 2025 |
Also, Sister Richins and I met this super cute girl this past week named Kyra! Kyra works at the Arby’s we were studying at, and she told us that she actually went to girls' camp when she was younger with some friends!! We’ve been teaching her all week, and then a couple of days ago we also found out she lives in the Elders’ area :( So we had to pass her off too! But that’s okay—I know there are prepared people here!
Sister Wennerholm and I felt prompted to pull over and knock on a street. This street was right by campus, and we didn’t realize it, but after a couple of houses, we figured out we were literally knocking sororities and frats… I was so not a big fan of it. But as we were leaving, we met this super sweet college girl named Bella! Bella and her family had gone to the St. Louis Temple open house when she was younger, and she was totally down to learn more from us! She told us to come back to the sorority on Tuesday and teach her and all her friends!!! Haha wild!

Easter with the Huangs! Cape Girardeau Missouri April 2025 |
Easter Sunday was seriously so, so good! We had a beautiful Sunday service, and two people bailed on speaking, so they surprised Sister Richins and me and had us speak… wild! But it went well! We also had some cool friends come to church! Our friend Larry came—he’s also three days clean from smoking, so everyone say some extra prayers for Larry this week! We had another friend named Ocdabio. He’s from Mexico too, so my Spanish skills were put to the test, which was refreshing! We also had a big African family come to church because their friends from Johannesburg, Africa told them to come! Which was legit wild—but what a blessing! They also didn’t live in our area :( so sad, but again, it's all the same team haha!
After church, we went to the Huangs’ home and had Easter lunch, which was so much fun! Then I got to watch my friend Lizzy from Springfield YSA get baptized!! She’s seriously so amazing—I just love her so much, so it was like the BIGGEST gift to watch her be baptized on Easter!
After her baptism, we got to head over to the Windbiglers’ for Easter dinner, and it was genuinely so, so good! They even made us cute little Easter bags! I love Easter—what a glorious day to celebrate Jesus Christ!

Presented about "Greater Love" at SEMO!! Cape Girardeau Missouri April 2025 |
As I was reading the Book of Mormon, one verse stood out to me in a new way. In Ether 1:42, the phrase "And there will I meet thee, and I will go before thee into a land which is choice above all the lands of the earth" resonated deeply with me. What struck me was the promise: "I will go before thee."
Recently, a man in our ward shared a story with me that sparked a personal understanding of Christ’s atonement. Last summer, he took his four young daughters, ages 4 to 10, on a hike to a small waterfall. The girls were very excited—putting on their swimsuits, shorts, and flip-flops—ready for the adventure. However, as they hiked the 2-mile trail, they began to complain and got scratched and pricked by many thorns and bushes.
Despite their struggles, the dad refused to quit, knowing the beautiful view they would soon see. Instead, he took the lead—walking ahead of his daughters and purposefully clearing the path of sticks and thorns. As he did, he too got scratched and pricked, but he continued to pave the way for his girls.
What struck me was how the dad related this experience to the Savior’s role in our lives. Just as he cleared the path for his daughters, Jesus clears our path of physical, mental, and spiritual pain. The dad’s story illustrates the depth of Jesus’ promise to “go before thee.” Having suffered our pains and experienced our life, Jesus truly understands our struggles. When we feel overwhelmed, He is the only one who fully comprehends.
This promise brings me comfort, knowing that Jesus has gone before me, and He will continue to guide me through life’s challenges. He has paved the way before each of us, so as we walk, we won’t be pricked with the thorns that He already bore—and if we do, then His empathy will heal our wounds!
I hope y’all had a blessed Easter!! I love y’all so, so much!
God is so good! 🩷
