Hey everyone!! I hope all is well! Feliz Cinco de Mayo!! Y’all, we actually had a pretty solid and super odd week—lol! Also, the title comes from the fact that my companion quotes this from Saturday's Warrior every morning... and it’s pretty much us! ๐♀️๐
First off, y’all, Regi LOVED church! He asked us if he could come back and we invited him to be baptized! He said YES! So we are working for May 24th with him! I am a little nervous, though, because he lives with a bunch of people from the street. It’s like his cousins that he lets stay with him, so there’s always something sus going on in his home. On Friday this past week, he called us and some lady was yelling in the back, and he was like, “Don’t come over. There’s a crazy lady here.” Lol—so prayers for Regi, but he’s awesome! I’m hoping we can convince him to move!

Brother Phillip Williams, weekly book of mormon reading! Cape Girardeau Missouri May 2025 |
I mentioned that last week was pretty hard because people were so rude. I was feeling pretty unmotivated, and after P-day I was dreading going out. But I seriously said a prayer that I’d be able to get through Monday night—and prayers were answered. We were knocking doors and met our friend Ibreana and her mom Lawanda! Ibreana is 21, and they are both so cool! They told us that they were just praying when we happened to stop by… so we taught them, prayed with them on the spot, and invited them to come to church. They didn’t come, but maybe next week!

Later we met our sweet friend Katie. Katie is an AMAZING MIRACLE! We were walking with some time on our hands, and Sister Richins was like, “Let’s go knock those apartments.” So we did. Then we knocked into our sweet friend Katie! She’s so cool and told us that she’s been looking for a church and to be baptized—so we invited her to be baptized. Later on, Katie’s girlfriend walked out. We didn’t know they were dating at first and got no vibes whatsoever until Katie told us! I think Sister Richins and my jaws were legit on the floor—we were shocked. But then it gets better... The girlfriend told us that she was just baptized into our church a year prior to dating Katie. #slay ๐ haha. Which might make this a bit more difficult... Her girlfriend also was just visiting and lives in Tennessee. Anyway, it was such a unique situation, and we let her know the expectations to be baptized—and she was so down for it! So, pray for Katie—and low-key us—that we may teach her to her needs and be able to show her God’s love through His commandments! I’m pretty nervous, but I know God put her in our path for a reason. So I’m excited to teach her!
After that, we were walking and met Marcus, who got our number saying he wanted to learn more about Jesus Christ—and then proceeded to ask Sis. Richins out on a date! This isn’t outta the usual for us, but we texted and said, “As missionaries we don’t date,” and he responded with, “What about a friendly date?” HAHAHAH!! Had to break the news that wasn’t gonna cut it either! I didn’t realize how many dates on my mission we’d have to turn down. Some guys are just on a constant prowl... kinda weird.
…Anyways, all that happened on Friday—in the time span of 2 hours—so we were just along for the ride at that point lol! God’s work is seriously never boring!
Also, earlier this week we met our new friends from Honduras: Julia, Beatriz, and Sabrina. They were hardcore Christians and invited us to their Christian Spanish worship at the park on Saturday! We taught them about the Book of Mormon and they were so excited. We didn’t have any Spanish Books of Mormon with us, so we decided to give it to them at the Spanish worship group! It was so fun! It really switched up our Saturday—we got to go and give them the Book of Mormon and stayed for 2 songs of them flag-dancing with the Honduras flag to their Spanish Christian music! The park also had a farmers market, so we got to talk to a whole bunch of people there too! It literally was so fun!

We did so good in finding this past week, but gosh—hopefully we can find people who are ready to commit! I know God will guide us and we can definitely help our friends!
My spiritual thought comes from my studies in the scriptures this past week. I was studying all about Abinadi—who he was and the life he lived! Abinadi only had one convert his whole life, that being Alma. Alma went on to convert generations of people. The life of Abinadi makes me think of the promise made to us in Doctrine and Covenants 18:15:
“15 And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!”
Luckily, on my mission I have seen many people enter the waters of baptism. Although, truly the biggest conversion story I have been a part of has been my own. I know that sounds selfish, but being dedicated to the gospel of Jesus Christ 24/7 for 18 months seriously changes a person. I am not the same person I was when I started my mission—and how great has my joy been! We are so lucky to have the opportunity to serve one another and bear testimony of Him with those around us. I am grateful for missionary service and so grateful for the opportunity to receive and help others enter the kingdom of our Father!
I love y’all so much! Have the most blessed week!
