No smoking motivation from the sisters (us) for Dennis!!!

Hi everyone, slower week over here, but that's okay because our friends are still progressing so so nicely! ALSO, HAPPY JUNE!!! 🎉

We've taught Dennis every day this week! This guy is truly the BEST! He comes to all of the activities the stake holds each week! We have Book of Mormon class on Tuesdays and Institute on Thursdays, and he does not miss a single activity! On Thursday, he even bought 6 pizzas and brought them to Institute—he is legit so prepared!! He had his very last cigarette on Saturday, and we've just been working our tails off to help him stay clean!!! He even got a priesthood blessing on Saturday!! He's the best!

Our new member Larry just adores Dennis—it’s actually so tender. They've become good buds!!! Dennis is also so fun. He wears a big ol’ cowboy hat every Sunday and drives a convertible with a huge Superman sticker on the back! He’ll keep you laughing—he has a three-joke limit on all our calls because he's very quick with his jokes, haha! He's incredible!

He has also LOVED learning about temples and has a pretty big desire to help his mom, who passed away, be baptized in the temple. He came to church again this past week. Although, when Dennis comes to church, it's wayyy different than anyone I have ever taught! He talks to everybody. He introduces himself to everyone!!! So the whole ward lovessss Dennis! It's been sooo fun—he's literally the coolest!!

My comp's family sent her some ¿sodas? from Japan,

Our friend Aerial is doing just as incredible!!! She got her hair done this past Saturday so she can look good for her baptism on Sunday! I say this every week, but she's actually become such a good friend to me! I love her so much! Going to her home and teaching her is like hanging out with one of my friends! She's PUMPED for her baptism this week and has already chosen the colors and who will baptize her! Haha!

Her cousin Kasha, on the other hand, low-key went MIA! Aerial said she just needs some time because she's mega busy! So we’ve been trying to work with her!! She did come to church yesterday, though—haha, so that’s good! Anyways, everyone say some prayers for Kasha!!! She's the best!

Also, since we’re at Aerial's house like every day, we've gotten the chance to meet and teach her whole family. The rest of the siblings are younger than her, and her mom works on Sundays, so we’re trying to figure out how to get them all to church! I'm hoping the mom will find a way out of working Sundays, or Aerial will buy a car or something!!

We’ve also been teaching Shelly (Larry's mom). She's kinda old, so she's not really absorbing much of the info we share with her, but she still has faith and wants to be baptized. She's a hoot! We’ve been trying to get her to quit drinking sweet tea! We had a super powerful lesson on Sunday with the both of them, and they just LOVED church! So that’s where we are with her right now—although it's been good because Larry reads the Book of Mormon to her nicely and takes her to church! So it's been helping him stay super strong after his baptism! He also loves to help us teach her!

We had another super powerful lesson with Janet this past week! One of our young women joined us, and it was so good! Lots of tears shed on Janet’s end, but the Spirit was genuinely so strong! It was one of those lessons where she could feel the Spirit and Heavenly Father's love for her so strongly that I could say anything bold and it wouldn't offend! I love those types of lessons!

So, while the Spirit was super strong, I was able to tell her, “Janet, I just want to shake you and tell you to get back to church.” I testified about how much she needs the Church in her life right now. I love how the Spirit works! It reminds me of that promise where it says, “Open your mouth and it shall be filled,” or something like that. I say that because that’s truly how it feels—the Spirit fills my mouth with words! Being a missionary is sooo cool!!!

On Friday, it was a weird day—Sister Richins accidentally killed a squirrel with the car, an ancient old creep definitely said the worst sentence to me that I’ve ever heard (he’s a perv), and well… just a long day. But Sister Perkins, like she always does, made the day a million times better! She invited us over that day to help her make a Minecraft cake for her son Kit! It was actually a total blast! Sister Richins and I whipped out our major decorating skills and totally nailed the inspiration pic! It was so fun! Legit, made the day sooooo fun!

Sister Perkins was baptized just 5 years ago, and she is legit one of my favorite people on this earth! She is just so sooogiving! She wants to throw me a huge goodbye party before I go home, although I haven’t told any of the ward that I’m going home soon. So, she said the huge goodbye party will only be us and her little family! Just perfect! I love them!

Our friend Gregg, who we were working with a couple of weeks ago—and who we legit passed off one week before his baptism—finally got baptized this past week!! We got to go to his baptism, and it was so tender! He had the BIGGESTsmile!! Gregg is more of a shy guy, so he told Sister Richins and me, “I was hoping only 2 or 3 would come, but the whole ward saw me front and center in the water!” He's so funny! It was so fun and quite the blessing to watch him make a covenant with God!

Well, yesterday being Fast Sunday, I got to bear my testimony to the whole congregation! I bore my testimony on how there is so much joy that comes from dedicating your life to Jesus Christ! I read a quote this past week from Howard W. Hunter that reminds me of how we can greatly show our love for Jesus Christ:

“A great indicator of one’s personal conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others. For this reason, the Lord gave an obligation to every member of the Church to be missionaries.”

I’m so grateful for missionary work, and I’m really grateful for my time here in Cape Girardeau and the members who have taught me how to do member missionary work! They are a HUGE help to our work, and I know God blesses His missionaries and His work with people He can trust! I look forward to being able to be a member missionary when I return home, and I’m so happy I get to spread the good news for the rest of my life!!

Anyways, I love y’all so much! Have the best week ever!!! God is good! 🩷
